Treat animals, humans, and plants ethically equivalent

Only the use of as little meat and fish as possible is acceptable for me, also few dairy products, no animal products for clothing and housing, and generous donations for the protection of animals and nature. Products from “animal factories“ are unacceptable, as are imports without proof of origin, and keeping pets in a species-inappropriate way. The completely overbred “production animals“ are no longer capable to survive without humans. This accounts for my personal stance on the ethical justification for keeping animals. Instead, there is no justification in my eyes for all animal testing, species-inappropriate husbandry, live animal transportation, hunting for sport or trophies. The ideal state where all animals would live in their natural environment will be reached only slowly, if ever. On the other hand animals should be kept as species-appropriately as possible, as if they lived free in the wild.


What about plants? It is beyond question for me to extend animal ethics to plants as well. My view on the use of animals is not changed by that. The objective we have to follow is to reduce our ecological footprint to 1. More…
